UTA and local organizations are mobilizing resources to help students stay fed, warm and safe during the winter storm.
Maverick Pantry
Students experiencing food insecurity during the storm can access resources through the Maverick Pantry pocket pantries. These pantries are stocked with nonperishable snacks and emergency food items.

Overnight shelters
In preparation for extreme cold, the City of Arlington has expanded emergency overnight shelter options from Friday evening through Tuesday. Arlington is partnering with The Salvation Army, First United Methodist Church and Nations Church Arlington to provide a warm place for those in need this weekend.
The Salvation Army in Arlington will provide overnight services and can accommodate up to 30 individuals from Friday through Tuesday, with check-in times from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Check-in exceptions will be made for drop-offs by the Arlington Police Department after hours. Breakfast will be served, and individuals will check out at 9 a.m. Saturday, Monday and Tuesday and noon Sunday.
The First United Methodist Church can accommodate up to 20 individuals Friday through Tuesday, with check-in times from 7 to 9 p.m. and check-out times at 9 a.m. Check-in exceptions will be made for drop-offs by the Arlington Police Department after hours. Breakfast will be served.
The Nations Church Arlington will be open continuously from noon Friday to 8 a.m. Monday. The location can accommodate up to 40 people and will operate as both a warming center and an overnight shelter. Meals will be provided throughout the day.
Warming centers
The George W. Hawkes Downtown Library will open its lobby and public restrooms at noon Sunday. All other Arlington Public Library locations and city recreation centers will be open to the public as warming spaces during their regular operating hours.
First United Methodist Church will also be open as a warming center from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
