LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Nearly two dozen schools will start collecting pennies to raise money for UMC Children’s Hospital.
UMC announced this year’s “Miracle Pennies” campaign on Thursday. Students across the region will organize different events and fundraisers to collect money for the Children’s Miracle Network.
The work is entirely student-led, and all the money will stay local to help buy equipment and fund special services.
“We’re always focusing on areas of the hospital, we have a very large focus on the NICU where our babies are so help that department and buy the specialized equipment so we’re really looking forward to buying equipment for the NICU and their transport team,” said Sarah Simmons, director of Children’s Miracle Network at UMC.
The goal this year is $70,000.
