  • January 26, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (CITY OF LUBBOCK NEWS RELEASE) – City of Lubbock crews continue to work around the clock in day 3 of Winter Storm Fern. Since noon on Friday, City of Lubbock Public Works teams have been treating main thoroughfares and connecting roadways with over 16 pieces of equipment placed around our city. Today, our Public Works team have added snow plowing operations as well. Our partners at Texas Department of Transportation are also working tirelessly on treating and plowing our state highways.

Our Parks and Recreation teams have also been working to ensure all public safety facilities remain open and accessible by clearing roadways to police substations, headquarters, and driveway approaches to all fire stations. City Facilities crews are also working to ensure all City facilities and buildings remain operational, while teams at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport are working diligently to keep the airport open and operational.

Public safety crews remain out actively responding to calls for service. To help keep them safe, please continue to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary.
