The TCU Horned Frogs completed the sweep over the Baylor Bears with a 97-90 win. This marks four straight wins for the Frogs in Waco.
The turning point came early in the second half, when TCU rattled off a 13–2 run to take a 57–49 lead. The Frogs never trailed again, controlling the tempo the rest of the way.
Jayden Pierre led the charge with a career-high 25 points, adding two rebounds and two assists. 14 of his points came after halftime, and with this performance, he surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career. Xavier Edmonds was just as good, posting a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Turnovers played a major part in the outcome. Baylor committed 18 turnovers compared to TCU’s 11, and the Frogs capitalized with 19 points off those miscues. That advantage fueled TCU’s up-tempo attack, as it outscored Baylor 22–13 in fast-break points.
Free throws have been a struggle for TCU most of the year, but they were a key strength today in the win. They entered the game shooting 71 percent from the line but turned in one of their best performances of the year, going 35-for-43 (81 percent). Brock Harding was especially clutch down the stretch, knocking down 9 of 12 free throws despite shooting just 53 percent from the line on the season entering the game.
This win moves TCU to 13-7 overall and 3-4 in the Big 12 while Baylor falls to 11-8 overall and 1-8 in the Big 12.
TCU’s next game will be against the No. 6 Houston Cougars at the Schollmaier Arena on January 28.
