EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 49-year-old detention officer who works in the juvenile detention center was arrested after authorities allegedly found cocaine inside the jail.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Jacob Montes was arrested on Thursday after investigators watched surveillance video inside the juvenile jail that appeared to show Montes dropping a clear plastic bag with white powder in it on the floor.
Investigators said the white powder tested positive for cocaine.
The Sheriff’s Office said investigators went to review the surveillance video after staff found the cocaine.

Jail records show Montes was booked into the El Paso County Downtown Jail and charged with a prohibited item in a correctional facility, with a $5,000 bond.
According to jail records, Montes was released from jail that very same day after posting a surety bond.
The El Paso Juvenile Detention Center is located at 6400 Delta Dr., near Ascarate Park in South Central El Paso.
