An 18-year-old woman was injured after a sledding accident in Elmo on Monday afternoon.

Elmo Fire Department (EFD) initially reported the incident on their Facebook page at 4:51 p.m., showing images of their helicopter en route to the scene.

The Elmo Fire Department responded to an emergency on FM 2728 between U.S. Highway 80 and Interstate 20. Officials said the teen was being pulled on a sled behind an ATV when she struck a piece of equipment. Her condition has not been released.

In a Facebook post, the department urged caution as similar activity had been reported in the area: “Responding with air in route to a ATV/sled incident. Be careful several people in the response area are doing the same thing. Be safe.”

The fire chief confirmed to NBC 5 that a medical helicopter arrived at the scene to transport the teen.
No other injuries were reported.

This incident is still under investigation and NBC 5 is working to learn more.
