The Texas Department of Transportation (TDOT) urged commuters to “Stay off the roads if you can overnight” on Monday, January 26, as the National Weather Service warned that extreme cold was expected to last until Tuesday morning.

Footage released by the TDOT shows snow plows diligently clearing Interstate 35E in Dallas.

“Our crews have been taking advantage of the sun Monday, clearing and treating roads throughout the state, but roads may refreeze,” they said.

The TDOT also asked commuters who need to drive to be mindful of the crews and maintain a safe following distance. Credit: Texas Department of Transportation (TDOT) via Storyful
