EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 35-year-old man was arrested last week on theft charges after selling multiple stolen vehicles.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of stolen vehicles on Friday, Jan. 23, in the 3600 block of Agusta.
Police said that a suspect unlawfully entered a gated property, falsely claimed ownership of multiple vehicles, and sold them without authorization.
Two victims were identified, the rightful owner of 10 vehicles valued at approximately $26,000 and a second victim scammed out of about $1,600.
According to police, during the investigation, the suspect contacted the second victim for additional payment.
Investigators arranged a meeting near Zaragoza Road and North Loop Drive, where the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Javier Navarro, was taken into custody.
Six vehicles were recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
Navarro was arrested and charged with theft of vehicle under $30,000 and theft by fraud, with bonds set at $5,000 for each charge.
