William Gibson, an American-Canadian writer best known for his science fiction work, once said, “The future is already here – it’s just not evenly distributed.” Samantha Cruz, an up-and-coming rockstar real estate agent with JPAR Real Estate North Metro is proving that quote true. She is here now to show us the future, as I learned spending the afternoon with the dynamic Realtor.
Like many Gen Z Realtors, Samantha is well equipped for a promising future in this business because she is not afraid of change and is a master of adapting to people and her surroundings. She’s meeting the varied needs of her clients using tools like social media to reach their customers that many others have not yet fully embraced.
It is not to say that the established methods are not effective, but Samantha recognizes that communication has changed and she is adapting rapidly to this new age. But she knows it will not be easy, even with these tools. It still takes hustle to be in this profession.
Her drive to be where she is today as a 26-year-old Gen Z’er making her mark in this profession started with her parents.

“Real estate is not easy. Sales is not easy. I’m very grateful for my upbringing,” Samantha said. “I owe everything I have to them.”
Samantha, who was born and raised in Dallas, was 17 when she had the opportunity to move to Belgium with her mother and stepfather. She stayed for five years, went to university there, and learned Dutch. In total, Samantha speaks three languages. Samantha knows how to hustle.
“It was not what I expected,” she said in reference to the weather in Belgium. Being a native Texan, she was accustomed to lots of sunshine all the time. She adapted.
“I decided I wanted to live my European dream. I got to travel and it really changed the way I think and how open I am with people,” she said. “I think I am a completely different person from that experience.”
Little did she know at the time, but her experience in Europe was probably some of the best training for her career as a Realtor.
“Travelling really opens your mindset to how other people think,” she said. “There are also a lot of immigrants in Belgium so I had a lot of friends from Syria and countries that are unfortunately going through a really hard time.”
When she returned to Texas, she came home with a degree in international business management and her future husband. Once back home, however, she was not sure what she wanted to do so she sought out her father for advice.

“I get my best advice from my Mom and my Dad. I’ve always looked up to him and asked him for advice. Like everyone in my generation I was like ‘What should I do with my life?’” Samantha said with a laugh.
With her father being a business partner with a builder and her uncle encouraging her to get her license, Samantha heeded their advice and she has not looked back.
“My Dad said you could do it part time but I ended up liking it so much, I decided to give it my all and I will do this full-time. I don’t see myself in any other career,” she said. “I hope to just scale from this opportunity that I’ve been given.”
To that end, she works hard to promote her listings via social media. Her favorite, however, is creating content and posting it on TikTok to reach a broader base. Samantha knows how to hustle because you will not only see her listings but you will also see the walkability of the neighborhood, for example.
Going the extra mile to ensure clients know they’re being taken care of is what matters most to Samantha.
“The good agents, we definitely help people and clients really appreciate that,” she said. “The people make it worth it and if you only get to help 20 people a year that’s still a significant impact on their lives because people remember how I made them feel and it does impact in a positive way.”
This type of drive and attitude for helping people coupled with the technology to facilitate the process is what makes Samantha stand out from the crowd. She is the future, and it will be exciting to see others follow her lead.
