Editor’s note: Featured pets may be adopted quickly, but there are always others ready for their forever home.

At the Humane Society of North Texas, adoption is about changing lives, one match at a time. Learn more about adoptions at HSNT’s Fort Worth and Keller locations, or at off-site adoption events held six days a week at HSNT.org.

Saving lives does not begin and end with adoption. At the Humane Society of North Texas, or  HSNT, it also happens through short-term fostering, volunteer support and programs like Doggy Day Out that give pets a chance to let their best selves shine. These efforts help animals get noticed faster, reduce stress and allow staff to better match each pet with the right family. The result is more successful adoptions and stronger outcomes for pets and people.

This week’s featured pets, Lucas and Jasmine, are great examples of why visibility matters.

Lucas, a 2-month-old retriever mix, is outgoing from the start. He approaches the world with curiosity and confidence, greeting new experiences with an open heart. Lucas enjoys being around people and thrives when he is included. His friendly nature and eagerness to engage make him an easy match for a family looking to raise a puppy with strong social skills.

Jasmine, a 4-month-old kitten, prefers a gentler introduction. She is shy at first, watching carefully until she feels safe. With patience, soft pets or a treat stick, Jasmine begins to relax and reveal her affectionate side. She is the kind of kitten who blossoms once trust is built, making her a wonderful fit for someone who appreciates a quieter connection.

Lucas and Jasmine are just two of the many pets benefiting from HSNT’s community-driven approach to animal welfare. Whether through adoption, fostering, volunteering or enrichment programs, each act of involvement helps pets move one step closer to home.
