El Paso, TX (KFOX14/CBS4) — 4 girls from Eastwood High School organized a walkout to protest the treatment of communities by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“It is truly a privilege to be able to exercise our First Amendment right,” said one of the student-organizers, emphasizing the importance of speaking out for those who cannot.
The event, which drew a larger crowd than expected, was organized by students without political endorsements.
“We were really nervous, but I feel like we all came together and made it work,” said one organizer.
Another added, “We were just amazed to see the variety of signs and how many people reaching out to us.”
The students expressed their desire to use their voices for good, stating, “We all believe that human rights are non-negotiable.”
