Some context
The city called a special election after the previous Place 7 council member, Tim Brown, died in October. Brown was initially elected to the position in 2018. Carbon and Sheridan received the most votes out of five candidates in the Dec. 20 special election for the Place 7 seat, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.
Runoff elections are held between the two candidates who received the largest number of votes, and when no candidate receives a majority of votes, according to the Schertz City Charter.
The Place 7 term will expire in November 2027, according to the city’s website.
