EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso is gearing up for a bustling concert season this spring, with major artists like Post Malone, Jelly Roll and K-pop sensation BTS set to perform at Sun Bowl Stadium.

Jorge Vazquez, UTEP’s executive director of special events, highlighted the potential tourism boom, noting that last year’s Coldplay concert generated over $6 million in revenue for the city.

“We have become an emerging market now at the same level as Rome, Tokyo, Milan with BTS,” Vazquez said.

He emphasized the significance of hosting such high-profile events, adding, “Now with Post Malone, we’re one of two cities in Texas, and it’s not Dallas or it’s not San Antonio, it’s us.”

To enhance the concert experience, UTEP has introduced a detailed fan guide addressing parking, gate entrances, water stations, and safety tips.

This comes after challenges faced during last year’s Coldplay concert, where extreme heat and technical issues led to long lines and overheated fans.

Vazquez assured improvements, stating, “We have come up with a new way of providing Wi-Fi at the gate, which I think is going to make a huge difference.”

BTS is scheduled to perform on May 2 and 3, followed by Post Malone and Jelly Roll on May 13.
