Betty was born September 18, 1930, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Vincent and Ruth Leito. Betty grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Paschal High School. She worked in the lab at St. Joseph’s Hospital for many years. While Betty never married or had children of her own, she loved dogs and always had a dog companion. While she was raised a Methodist, in later life she adopted her father’s Catholic religion. She attended church regularly until she became too sick to go.
