LUBBOCK, Texas – After helping Texas Tech to a top-15 win with a career-high in points, senior Snudda Collins was named the Big 12 Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This is Collins’ third Big 12 honor this year and first Big 12 Player of the Week award in her career.
Collins had another career performance to propel the Lady Raiders (21-3, 8-3 Big 12) to a victory against No. 12-ranked TCU on Sunday. Against the Horned Frogs, Collins posted her second game in the last three contests with 28 points, tying her career high. She shot 9-for-20 from the field (.450) and 3-for-6 from behind the arc (.500) to lead the way for the Lady Raiders. In addition, Collins added five rebounds and seven free throws in the win. The Brookhaven, Miss., native now ties for the team lead with 21 double-digit scoring games and leads the way with four 20+ point games.
Against Iowa State, she added 16 points and two 3-pointers, while shooting 6-for-13 from the field (.462). This week, Collins averaged 22.0 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting from the field (15-for-33) and 5-for-12 shooting from behind the arc (.417). She went 9-for-11 from the free throw line (.818) while totaling eight rebounds. Collins now leads the team with 15.5 points per game, all of her points coming off the bench.
Texas Tech continues conference play this Saturday, Feb. 7 with a game at Houston against the Cougars at 5 p.m.
