The Rustic is expanding its Texas-sized presence with a new location headed to Grandscape in The Colony this summer. The Dallas-born restaurant and live music venue will take over the former Lava Cantina space, bringing its familiar blend of live Americana music, wood-grilled food and laid-back hospitality to one of North Texas’ busiest entertainment districts.
Known for pairing local musicians with a welcoming, social atmosphere, The Rustic’s newest outpost aims to become a go-to gathering place for everything from casual weeknight shows to weekend meetups. An opening date has not yet been announced.
A New Chapter For A Familiar Stage
Located at 5805 Grandscape Blvd., the venue inherits a space long associated with high-energy concerts. Rather than reinventing the wheel, The Rustic is reshaping the stage-forward layout to fit its own rhythm, one centered on nightly live music, handcrafted American dishes and an easygoing environment that encourages guests to linger.

“This project is an exciting expansion opportunity for the brand,” said Kyle Noonan, co-owner and CEO of FreeRange Concepts. “We’re taking a venue that already had a heartbeat and giving it a new rhythm — one built around Americana music, local and regional dining favorites and a casual atmosphere that invite people to stay awhile.”
Music, Food And A Local-First Approach
As with other Rustic locations, music remains the main attraction. The Grandscape venue will feature a rotating lineup of local musicians, reinforcing the brand’s longstanding commitment to supporting regional artists. Food and drinks follow the same philosophy, spotlighting Texas beers and comfort-driven dishes designed to be enjoyed between sets.
The goal is to create a space that feels familiar from the moment guests arrive, whether they’re longtime fans of the brand or first-time visitors discovering it through the Grandscape scene.

“When people walk through the doors, we want them to feel like they’ve stepped into a neighborhood tradition, even on their first visit,” said Josh Sepkowitz, co-owner and CEO of FreeRange Concepts. “This location lets us welcome Dallas’ northern communities into what we’ve been building for years — a place where good food meets live music.”
A Natural Fit For Grandscape
Surrounded by destinations like Nebraska Furniture Mart, Scheels and Andretti Indoor Karting & Games, The Rustic adds a new layer to Grandscape’s entertainment mix. The venue gives visitors a place to settle in once the shopping is done and the lights come up on stage, reinforcing the district’s reputation as a hub for shared experiences.
“The Rustic is a natural addition to Grandscape because it brings together everything our destination is built on — great food, live entertainment and a strong sense of community,” said Ryan Blumkin, vice president of Grandscape. “This venue enhances our live music offering and gives guests another reason to stay longer, gather together and experience something memorable every time they visit.”
What to Expect When The Doors Open
Like its Uptown Dallas counterpart, The Rustic at Grandscape will offer wood-grilled, made-from-scratch dishes, daily happy hours, live music five days a week and family-style brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. The opening marks the brand’s second location in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and its fifth statewide, continuing a measured expansion into entertainment-driven markets that match its large-format vision.
