MUSTANG RIDGE, Texas — Over 40 pounds of marijuana were discovered and seized in suitcases in Mustang Ridge on Sunday.

Police say that at around 2 p.m., a concerned citizen called 911 and reported suspicious suitcases, allowing officers to respond quickly and secure the scene.

Officers removed the illegal substances, along with other unidentified substances that were found, which are still undergoing testing.

Chief of Police Rolando Belmares praised the citizen’s actions, stating, “We commend this citizen for their action, which directly contributed to removing dangerous substances from our streets before they could potentially harm members of our community—especially our children.”

With Halloween approaching, the Mustang Ridge Police Department plans to increase its presence in neighborhoods to ensure safety.
