Three people from the Houston area were killed Tuesday morning in a plane crash in southern Louisiana, according to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded just after 11 a.m. to reports that a small aircraft had lost altitude and crashed into an open field. Officers located a Beechcraft Baron, a twin-engine aircraft, that had crashed, killing three people.

The three people killed in the crash were identified as Bruce Verduyn, 58, and Justin Ramsey, 42, both of The Woodlands; and Lydia Laws, 46, of Spring.
The Federal Aviation Administration was investigating the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
