EL PASO, Texas — A 57-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on the 300 block of W. Rio Grande, according to the El Paso Police Department.
The incident occurred on February 4, 2026, at approximately 4:59 PM. The driver, 31-year-old Francisco Landa, was operating a 2014 Audi Q7 traveling west on Rio Grande when the pedestrian, Arturo Frias Moreno, crossed in front of the vehicle outside of a designated crosswalk. Moreno sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, stated the source.
This marks the sixth traffic fatality in El Paso this year, compared to five at the same time in 2025, according to the El Paso Police Department. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
