A new storm system will bring rain chances to North Texas later this week and into the weekend.
It’s been a relatively warm and dry October. However, the Metroplex finally saw rain over the previous weekend. While it wasn’t a complete washout, some areas received more areas than others, including 0.06 inch at Fort Worth Meacham International Airport and 0.24 inch at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
As the new storm system approaches from the west on Thursday, Oct. 23, a few strong storms may be possible across the region, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth.
More widespread showers and storms are possible on Friday, Oct. 24. The NWS said while some of these storms may be accompanied by heavy rain, gusty winds and small hail, the overall severe weather threat is low at this time.
Showers and storms are expected to continue into Saturday, Oct. 25. From Thursday through Saturday, areas west of Interstate 35 could see 0.5 inch of rain, and areas near and east of I-35 could see around 1 inch of rain.
Storms will exit the region overnight Saturday into Sunday, Oct. 26.
Storms will return to the North Texas forecast this week.
Near normal temperatures on the way
Temperatures in North Texas will leave the 90s behind this week, but they will still stay above normal.
Daily highs will be in the low 80s from Tuesday through Friday and dip into the mid to upper 70s on Saturday and Sunday. Looking ahead to next week, temperatures will stay in the upper 70s on Monday, Oct. 27.
