EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Julian Kalel, a native of El Paso, has secured a golden ticket to Hollywood after his audition on “American Idol” aired Monday.

Following his success, Kalel took to Instagram, expressing gratitude and offering support to those facing challenges.

“Glad I stayed. This is a dream come true. If you or someone you love is struggling, please speak up. Reach out. There is always help available. And if you’re fighting an everyday battle just to survive—I love you, I’m proud of you, and I’m really glad you’re still here,” he said.

Kalel, who began writing songs at 16, is a vocal advocate for mental health.

On his website, he shares, “I realized those same chords could become ropes for others to grab onto. Anxiety doesn’t care how old you are. Depression lies. Sometimes, the only way out is through a melody.” He describes his music as a blend of “Americana grit” and “modern country soul,” stating, “These songs are my truth. The struggles, the faith, the hard-won hope. If you’ve ever needed music that understands what you’re going through, you’ve found it here.”
