The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 8602 County Rd 7000. The initiative focuses on cardiovascular disease awareness among women.
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death for women, according to the American Heart Association. Nearly half of women over age 20 live with some form of cardiovascular disease.
The Go Red for Women campaign addresses awareness gaps about women’s greatest health threat. Only about half of women know that cardiovascular disease poses their greatest health risk.
Women experience unique life stages, including pregnancy and menopause, that can increase their risk of developing cardiovascular disease. The American Heart Association says women have been underrepresented in research, testing, treatment and funding.
The Go Red for Women initiative has operated for more than 20 years as the American Heart Association’s signature women’s health program. The campaign works to improve heart and brain health for all women through education and community support.
