Texas A&M basketball boasts a 12-1 home record this season, but the Florida Gators are entering Reed Arena as the favorite to hand the Aggies their second loss in College Station.
According to FanDuel, Bucky McMillan’s squad enters Saturday night’s SEC showdown as a 6.5-point underdog against the Gators, who are tied with Texas A&M for first place in the league standings. Florida has turned over a new leaf in recent weeks, securing a dominant 95-48 victory over South Carolina and crushing No. 23 Alabama 100-77, after a slow start to SEC play.
Meanwhile, Texas A&M is coming off another devastating late-game defeat, with a 100-97 loss to the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa on Sunday. The Aggies are looking to bounce back and pack Reed Arena on Saturday to secure a massive Quad 1 win and move one step closer to a postseason berth.
Entering the weekend’s contest against the Gators, the Aggies are the No. 3 scoring offense in the country, with 92.0 points per outing so far this season. Florida also ranks in the top-25 scoring offenses, however, and is looking to stack its resume for the opportunity to claim a second consecutive NCAA Championship.
McMillan’s high-paced, high-scoring style of basketball has worked well in Aggieland, as the Maroon and White continue to improve their shooting consistency, but other issues presented themselves in the conclusion of Sunday’s matchup against the Tide. The Aggies’ free-throw struggles and foul trouble have been a kryptonite of the team, especially in close games that come down to the wire.

Texas A&M’s mistakes must be limited against a Florida team that has displayed much improvement to this point with an extremely physical and fast-paced style that could take the wind out of the Aggies’ sails if they are not prepared. The Gators rank 16th with 16.41 fastbreak points per game and No. 1 with a 15 rebound margin. McMillan’s unit must crash the boards and limit turnovers if they want to exit the court with a win over the No. 17 Gators.
