In Lubbock, one local nonprofit is making a big difference for both pets and their people. The Daisy Project helps families in need keep their beloved animals by supplementing pet food. For many, this support means the difference between keeping a pet at home, or having to surrender them. Through compassion and community donations, The Daisy Project helps keep families and their furbabies together.

What Is The Daisy Project and How It Started

The Daisy Project was started twelve years ago by Haley Steele, who wanted to help families keep their beloved pets during tough financial times. She founded Daisy’s Pet Food Group, named after her own dog, Daisy. Sadly, Haley passed away in a car accident in 2020. To honor her memory and carry on her legacy, The Daisy Project was created with the mission of providing pet food so families wouldn’t feel forced to rehome or abandon their pets.

How the Program Helps Lubbock Families and Their Pets

In the last six months, The Daisy Project has helped over 400 dogs and over 200 cats with over 2000 pounds of food. They’ve even found ways to help Guinea Pigs stay fed.

If you are in need of assistance , The Daisy Project posts events on Facebook during which you can receive supplemental food for your pet. They require an application (filled out on site), and a photo ID. If your ID address is incorrect, you will also need to have a current bill with your name and address.

Ways You Can Support The Daisy Project’s Mission

The Daisy Project has an Amazon wishlist you can purchase from or you can email them at thedaisyproject@yahoo.com for ways to volunteer, donate, or drop off bags of pet food.

The Daisy Project shows just how powerful community kindness can be. By helping families care for their pets through tough times, this Lubbock-based organization strengthens the bond between people and their animals. Whether you donate, volunteer, or spread the word, every small act helps keep tails wagging and families together.
