The Rangers are adding another veteran reliever to the barrel of contenders for the final bullpen spots.
Right-hander Ryan Brasier, who grew up in Wichita Falls and attended Weatherford College, is finalizing a deal for nonroster invite to major league spring training, a person with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Dallas Morning News. Chris Cotillo of MassLive first tweeted the sides were closing in on a deal.
Brasier, 38, was limited to just 26 innings last year by a pair of left groin strains while with the Chicago Cubs. In 2024, he pitched just 28 innings with the Los Angeles Dodgers due to calf issues.
The Dodgers, who have a knack for getting the most of pitchers, acquired him from Boston in June 2023. He then went on to post a 0.70 ERA with Los Angeles in 38â…“ innings with a nearly 4-to-1 strikeout-to-walk rate.

He joins a group of nonroster invites that include Nabil Crismatt, Austin Gomber, Cal Quantrill and Josh Sborz, who all have significant major league experience.
