A fire caused significant damage to a two-story home on Woodland Drive in Dallas on Sunday, officials said.
Two adults and two children were in the home when the fire began, but made it out safely, Dallas Fire-Rescue said in a press release.
One firefighter sustained an unspecified, non-life-threatening injury to his lower extremity during the operation. They were taken to a local hospital for evaluation and are expected to be OK, officials said.
Dallas Fire-Rescue units were initially dispatched to the scene around 11:39 a.m. after a 911 caller reported the home was in flames, the release states.
Firefighters saw the fire on the side of the home when they arrived. The flames had already begun to reach the eaves of the house and spread throughout the attic.
All firefighters were ordered out of the home, and DFR requested a second-alarm response around 12:02 p.m. The responders fought the fire defensively from there, flooding the home until they were able to declare it extinguished at 12:53 p.m.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation, but DFR officials suspect the fire began on an outside wall of the house before spreading up the wall and into the attic.
