  • February 9, 2026

MORGANTOWN, W.V. (KCBD) – After two frustrating bouts with UCF and Kansas, the No. 13 Texas Tech Red Raiders (17-6, 7-3 Big 12) returned to the win column Sunday afternoon with a 70-63 win at West Virginia.

Forty-nine seconds into the game, Donovan Atwell finished a fast break with a three-point jumper, his first of four, giving the Red Raiders a 3-0 lead. From there, they never once trailed in the contest.

Forward JT Toppin led with 22 points and nine rebounds, one shy of a double-double. Atwell registered 15 points and point guard Christian Anderson posted 13.

While the Mountaineers outscored Tech 38-20 in the paint, 39 of the Red Raiders’ 70 points came from three-point shots. Anderson and Jaylen Petty also made three three-pointers each, and Toppin was 2-for-4 from behind the perimeter.

The Red Raiders will return to the USA Wednesday evening for a rematch with the Colorado Buffaloes- a team they beat 73-71 in Boulder on Jan. 10. Tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
