DALLAS, Texas — A man was fatally shot by Dallas police after he allegedly charged at officers with a weapon on February 8, 2026.
Officers responded to a call around 7:36 p.m. on the 5100 block of Lemmon Ave. regarding a male subject threatening self-harm with a weapon, according to a press release from the Dallas Police Department. Upon arrival, the suspect answered the door holding a box cutter and slammed it shut. Through the door, he was heard saying, “Put away the taser, I don’t want to f*cking stab myself. I want to get shot,” and blaming someone inside the apartment, “This is your fault.”
Shortly after, the suspect reopened the door and aggressively charged at officers, attempting to reach for an officer’s gun. Officers fired, striking him in the upper torso. They immediately provided medical aid, and the suspect was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
This incident marks the third officer-involved shooting of 2026. The investigation is ongoing, with updates to be provided in the coming days, documented under case number 018441-2026.
