As the spring moves forward, more sports within UTA Athletics begin to ramp up play.
Here is the schedule from Tuesday through Feb. 17.
Men’s basketball
The men’s basketball team will play twice this week. Its first game will be against Abilene Christian University at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Moody Coliseum in Abilene, Texas. The Mavericks come back home to take on Southern Utah University at 2 p.m. Saturday at College Park Center.
The first game will be available to watch on ESPNU and the second will be streamed on ESPN+.
Women’s basketball
The women’s basketball team will also play twice this week, starting with a home game against Abilene Christian at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at College Park Center. The Lady Mavericks will travel northwest to play against Southern Utah at 3 p.m. Saturday at the America First Events Center in Cedar City, Utah.
Both games will be available to stream on ESPN+.
Baseball
The baseball team opens its season with a three-game series on the road against Northwestern State University of Louisiana. The first game will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, the second game will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, and the third game will be at 1 p.m. Sunday.
All games will be at the Brown-Stroud Field in Natchitoches, Louisiana. The first and last game will be streamed on ESPN+.
Softball
UTA softball will host its first home games of the year in the Dream City Invitational this weekend. They’ll play five games in three days at the Allan Saxe Field.
The team will play the University of Wisconsin–Madison at 3 p.m. and the University of Tulsa at 5:30 p.m. Friday. UTA will then play Iowa State University twice, first at 3 p.m., then at 5:30 p.m Saturday. The team will finish the weekend slate playing Tulsa again at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
All the games will be available to stream on ESPN+.
Wheelchair basketball
UTA is set to host the Dallas Mavericks Tournament this weekend at the Maverick Activities Center. The Movin’ Mavs will have their first game against the Dallas Wheelchair Mavericks at 11 a.m. They will then face Bayou City at 2 p.m. and Wounded Warrior Abilities Ranch (WWAR) Generals at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Lady Movin’ Mavs are set to compete in the University of Illinois College Tournament on Friday and Saturday at the Activities and Recreation Center in Champaign, Illinois.
UTA’s Lady Mavericks will take on the University of Arizona at 1 p.m. Friday. The team will face the University of Alabama at 10:15 a.m. and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign at 1:45 p.m Saturday.
Track and field
The track and field team is set to compete in the Jarvis Scott Invite on Friday and Saturday at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas. The meet will be hosted by Texas Tech University.
Men’s tennis
The men’s tennis team will play its first home game of the semester with two matches this weekend. The Mavericks will take on Abilene Christian at 1 p.m. Thursday and Tyler Junior College at 11 a.m. Saturday, both at the UTA Tennis Center.
Women’s tennis
UTA women’s tennis also competes twice this week at the UTA Tennis Center. The team will first play Southern Methodist University at noon Friday before going against Louisiana Tech University at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Women’s golf
The women’s golf team is scheduled to compete in two tournaments within the next week, starting with the Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Women’s Intercollegiate on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
The team will then be back to open competition in the Texas Golf Throwdown on Monday and Feb. 17 at The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas.
