A 28-year-old man faces a murder charge following a fatal domestic violence shooting Tuesday in Fort Worth, police said.

Officers found the woman with a gunshot wound to her head around 9:07 p.m. Tuesday after responding to a shooting call in the 700 block of Post Oak Boulevard, Fort Worth police said in a news release.

The woman was declared dead by medical personnel at the scene, police said.

Detectives determined the woman was shot during a domestic altercation and the suspect fled the residence afterward, police said.

Shortly after the shooting, Nelson Garcia, 38, was taken into custody in Irving. Police said Garcia contacted police and stated “he had shot the victim.”
