If your late-night drive includes that flyover from westbound I-635 to northbound Dallas North Tollway, plan for a change this week.
The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) is scheduling an overnight closure of the westbound I-635 to northbound DNT direct-connector ramp for pavement repair. The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Feb. 9–13.
This impacts drivers moving through the I-635/DNT interchange in Dallas—a busy connection for anyone heading toward the Tollway during overnight shifts, early-morning commutes, or airport runs.
What to expect during the closure
During those overnight hours, you won’t be able to take the direct connector from westbound 635 to northbound DNT. NTTA says message boards will be posted nearby to alert drivers and guide traffic around the closure.
And like most overnight maintenance work, weather can change the schedule—closures are typically postponed if conditions aren’t safe for crews or drivers.
NTTA’s posted detour is straightforward:
Exit to Dallas Parkway / Inwood Road
Follow signs to enter northbound Dallas North Tollway
That detour may not sound like much, but it can add time — especially if you hit backups where traffic funnels through fewer lanes or if multiple overnight projects are happening nearby.
A quick tip if you drive this overnight:
If you can, build in a few extra minutes and consider checking NTTA’s traffic updates before you head out. The Dallas North Tollway runs through several cities across North Texas, including Dallas and points north, so even a single connector closure can ripple into nearby frontage roads and ramps.
Bottom line: If your route normally includes westbound 635 to northbound DNT overnight, expect the detour through Dallas Parkway/Inwood Road this week—and give yourself a little cushion so you’re not scrambling at the split.
