HURST – Edna Stevens, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 6, 2026. She was 90 years young. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church, located at 1801 Norwood Drive, Hurst, Texas 76054, on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a family visitation one hour prior. Edna was born in 1935 to Randolph and Onie Ruth Callaway. She grew up in Fort Worth and was the middle child of their three daughters. Her family attended Rosen Heights Baptist Church where Edna formed many strong Christian friendships that developed into a life-long sisterhood. In 1958, James Stevens proposed to Edna not long after they were introduced by a friend. Edna was planning her graduation from Texas Christian University, earning a bachelor’s degree in education and planning a wedding too. Soon after, they moved to Hurst, Texas, to raise their family and start their careers. Edna taught and inspired students at Donna Park Elementary for 23 years. She led with passion and love. During that time, she was voted Teacher of the Year by her peers. Many grown adults have shared fond memories of being in her classroom. Edna, also known as Nana, was the heart of our family. She demonstrated her faith by encouraging and loving us unconditionally. She was full of kindness joy. She and James were married 68 wonderful years, hosting countless family gatherings in their home and at their Bridgeport Lake house. They became faithful members of First Baptist Church of Hurst and formed many strong life-long couple friendships. Many whom continue to love and encourage each other today. Edna was preceded in death by her sisters, Lottie Marie Bannister and Louise Trimble. She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Maloney and husband, Chris; her son, Scott Stevens and wife, Paula; her grandsons, Travis Hill and wife, Valerie, Chase Stevens and wife, Yaffa, and Brian Stevens; her granddaughter, Kelsey Maloney; her great-grandchildren, twins Everett and Olivia Hill; her nieces and nephews; and numerous friends who are like family.
