Elby Eugene “Gene” Eason October 24, 1938 – February 6, 2026 Elby Eugene “Gene” Eason, affectionately known to many as “Geno,” passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family and friends. Gene was a man of many talents and a dedicated patriot. In 1957, at the age of 19, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving honorably for eight years both at home and abroad. Following his military service, Gene built a successful career in the construction and insurance industries, where his work ethic and integrity were well-known until his retirement. A man of deep conviction and brotherhood, Gene was a Master Mason for over 57 years, embodying the values of the craft throughout his life. He was also a man of the sky, having earned his pilot’s license-a testament to his lifelong desire to explore and master new challenges. Geno was happiest when he was outside. Whether he was hunting, casting a line while fishing, or perfecting his swing on the golf course, he found peace in nature. His adventurous spirit and many hobbies made him a captivating storyteller and a joy to be around. At the center of Gene’s world was his family. He was the devoted husband to the love of his life, JoAnn Eason, for 67 beautiful years. Together, they built a foundation of love that grew to include: 3 Children, 6 Grandchildren, and 18 Great-grandchildren. Gene is survived by his wife JoAnn, his children Jeffrey Eason of Benbrook and Pamela Wells (Eddie) of Singleton, his grandchildren Jeffrey T. Eason (Rachael), Bret Wells, Tiffany Strong (Kevin), Adam Wells (Caroline), Andé Ngo (Linh), and Hunter Eason (Cody) ,and his great-grandchildren Aidan Eason, Caleb Eason, Lilly Eason, Conner Wells (Abbie), Micah Wells, Josiah Wells, Kaleb Strong, Kallie Strong, Huck Wells, Clarke Wells, Summer Ngo, Autumn Ngo, Winter Ngo, Rylan Turner, Aurora Turner, Tristan Turner, and Ember Turner. Gene is preceded in death by his mother and father Edna M. Eason and Elby F. Eason, his son Billy W. Eason, his brother Jimmy L. Eason, and granddaughter Summer R. Eason.
