Dallas Area Rapid Transit will celebrate the opening of its Silver Line rail on Saturday, Oct. 25, with 10 community events and ribbon cuttings. From Plano to Dallas-Fort Woth International Airport, the day will be filled with celebrations and a free evening concert.

After six years of construction and months of testing, the 26-mile line will connect seven North Texas cities and strengthen connections to jobs, schools and communities across the region.

The rail line crosses Dallas, Denton and Collin counties, passing through Grapevine, Coppell, Dallas, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson and Plano, with two final connections at DFW Airport.

For the celebration, each Silver Line station will host its own community event celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to showcase the spirit of the cities along the 26-mile track.

To further celebrate the beginning of service, DART passengers can enjoy free rides on the Silver Line rail from Saturday, Oct. 25, through Saturday, Nov. 8.

The free concert to celebrate Silver Line’s opening will take place from 6-9 p.m. at the 12th Street station in Plano. The Jakarta Band will close out the rail line’s opening along with local food trucks, community programming and several fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Trains will operate from 4 a.m. to 1 a.m. every day, running every 30 minutes during peak weekday hours and every 60 minutes during weekends and off-peak hours.

DART’s Silver Line features state-of-the-art Stadler trains, fully accessible stations and direct transfers from bus routes and DART light rail. Trains feature bicycle racks, overhead luggage racks, USB charging points and ADA compliant boarding.
