EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Several migrants were apprehended following a high-speed chase in east El Paso on Wednesday morning.
Around 11:53 a.m., a Texas DPS Trooper was on routine patrol in El Paso County.
The trooper saw a silver Volkswagen passenger vehicle near the Yarbrough Drive exit and attempted to stop the Volkswagen for a traffic violation.
The driver of the Volkswagen failed to stop, officials said.
This led to a vehicle pursuit.
Officials said the vehicle came to a stop, resulting in a bail out, followed by a foot pursuit near Yarbrough and Mazatlán Dr.
Ultimately, a total of five illegal immigrants were apprehended and referred to the U.S. Border Patrol.
The driver, along with one of the passengers, was from Mexico.
The other 3 passengers were from Ecuador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.
This investigation is ongoing.
