The Patriots last loss was over a month ago against Estacado at home by only two points, but since that loss back on Jan. 6, Lubbock Cooper has gone on to average 71.6 points in their last 10 games including a revenge win on the road at Estacado, beating the Matadors this time by 25 points, while holding their opponents to only 36.8 points across the last 10 games.
Offensive ability stands out for this team. Any given night, any player can get hot on the floor, from Senior Tookie Johnson, to Pierce Fioroni, to Jackson Funk, Jayden Ellis, Koleman Hendrix, any player on the Lubbock Cooper Liberty roster can control the floor and get off a great shot. But the Patriots’ defensive game has also been growing. Head Coach Parker Hicks says that one thing they tell their team is defense will win them those playoff and championship games.
Up next, the 9th ranked Lubbock Cooper Liberty Patriots close out their regular season schedule Tuesday night hosting Levelland at 7:30 p.m. Before getting ready for the playoffs. The Lobos are 18-13 overall, 4-7 in district play with a 62-31 loss to the Patriots but Coach Hicks and his team aren’t overlooking the competition, knowing that Levelland can be a good team especially since they have nothing to lose.
