CCPD officials said the victim in a shooting near Secretariat Drive has died at a local hospital. Detectives have detained a suspect and recovered a weapon.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Police Department officers are investigating a shooting near the intersection of Secretariat Drive and Martin Street, according to CCPD Public Information Officer Antonio Contreras. 

CCPD PIO Madeline Commons told 3NEWS that the male victim of the shooting has died at a local hospital. 

According to Commons, the victim and shooter knew each other and the shooting occurred during an argument over services rendered.

She said CCPD detectives arrives swiftly to scene and were able to detainee several people, included the alleged shooter. Detectives will escort the suspects down to the main station to conduct interviews, according to Commons. 

Charges will be dependent on the results of the interviews, she said. Detectives have also recovered a weapon, according to Commons. 

She said there is no threat to the public.
