EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 26-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly took an employee from a Northeast El Paso bank hostage, with the intention to use him as a “shield,” a week after he was released from jail.
According to the El Paso Police Department, witnesses told officers that Luis Fernando Colomo allegedly walked into the GECU located at 9435 Dyer St. (near the intersection with Diana Drive) acting nervously and telling an employee that armed men were coming after him.
Colomo then allegedly grabbed a 28-year-old employee, pretended that he had a weapon, forced him into an office, took him outside the building and told him that he planned to use him as a “human shield.”

Jail records show that after he was arrested for that warrant, Colomo was released on Oct. 13, after posting a personal recognizance bond.
