The ex-girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has filed a lawsuit against him alleging he assaulted her multiple times over a one-and-a-half year span in the Dallas area and in Missouri.
The complaint was filed Monday in Dallas County’s 162nd District Court by Dacoda Jones, who alleges Rice choked her in the Victory Park home the two shared near downtown Dallas.
Last month, Jones published a series of posts on Instagram, in which she accused the former Southern Methodist University player of domestic violence. The posts included more than a dozen images that showed bruises and other wounds on her body, holes in the wall and broken cabinets.
The lawsuit states the abuse occurred from December 2023 until July 2025 at the Dallas home, as well as one the couple shared in Lee’s Summit, Mo. It also alleges that much of the violence happened when Jones was pregnant. The couple has two sons together

“Defendant Rice has grabbed, choked, strangled, pushed, thrown, scratched, hit, and headbutted Ms. Jones, as well as hit her with inanimate objects,” the lawsuit states. “Additionally, he has engaged in other violent and abusive behaviors towards Ms. Jones, including throwing objects, destroying property, punching walls, and breaking furniture, as well as locking her out in the middle of the night.”
It was not known Wednesday if Rice has an attorney representing him in the case. State Sen. Royce West represented him in a criminal case last year but said Wednesday he hasn’t been retained in the civil lawsuit.
After Jones posted her allegations on social media last month, an NFL spokesperson said the league would review the matter under its personal conduct policy. The Chiefs also said they were aware of the allegations.
Jones didn’t identify Rice in the posts, but noted he was the father of her children. She wrote that she had ended the relationship with him a couple of months before, and that he had come to her new home and broken the door.
Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years probation last year for his role in a high-speed crash that injured several people. Rice and former SMU player Teddy Knox were speeding in two high-end sports cars on North Central Expressway in March 2024 when they lost control, crashed into multiple vehicles and fled the scene.
Authorities said Rice was driving 119 mph in a rented Lamborghini Urus, while Knox was driving 116 mph in a Chevrolet Corvette registered to Rice before slowing to 91 mph about a second before the collision.
Rice was suspended for six games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
