The 18-year-old who was shot and killed near Secretariat Drive on Monday has been identified by the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The man shot and killed Monday near the intersection of Secretariat Drive and Martin Street has been identified as 18-year-old Donovan Encinia, according to the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Corpus Christi Police Department Public Information Officer Madeline Commons told 3NEWS on Tuesday that the individuals who were detained in connection with the shooting on Monday have since been released and that no arrests have been made at this time.

According to Commons, the shooting occurred as a result of a business dealing. 

“It was determined that a disturbance occurred over services rendered and a weapon was produced,” she said.

Commons said CCPD detectives arrived swiftly to the scene and detained several people, including the alleged shooter, who were later escorted to the main station for interviews and released the following morning. 

Encinia died at a local hospital after being transported by first responders.   

Video from the scene revealed a multitude of evidence markers placed next to shell casings. 

Still no word yet on happened during the argument that led to the shooting.
