Wildfires reduce air quality across Texas

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Air quality has taken a hit for our area thanks to wildfire smoke from multiple sources in and around Texas.

Today’s hazy skies reflect the current air quality index (AQI) of 102 for Thursday. This is classified as unhealthy for sensitive groups. Reduce time outdoors, if possible, and have necessary medication on hand just in case.

Once our cold front moves through Saturday morning, we expect much improved conditions over the weekend as the cooler, drier air clears out our current air mass.

That said, we’ll need to keep an eye on returning circulation of smoke over our region early into next week as high pressure settles back in over the state.
