A student was stabbed and another arrested for bringing a gun to campus during two separate incidents Wednesday at Lake Highlands High School in the Richardson Independent School District.

Police say the stabbing happened during a fight on a school bus, where one student was attacked and stabbed in the neck. The victim was hospitalized, and the student accused of the stabbing was taken into custody.

Later the same day, a different student was arrested after officials found a firearm in a backpack during an unrelated campus search.

Police say the gun was confiscated before it was displayed or used, and no additional injuries were reported.

Richardson ISD confirmed both incidents and said additional security measures are in place while the investigations continue. The district also reminded families that weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited on school property or buses.
