DFW metals fans are amped. Sick New World is a metal-based music festival launched originally in Las Vegas. The one-day festival immediately made a huge name for itself, attracting some of the heaviest headliners the genre has ever seen. Earlier this week, the festival announced its expansion into Fort Worth with a line-up that has us all ready to headbang.

Headlining the festival is legendary Nu-Metal band, System of a Down. The politically-charged Armenian metal outfit, behind iconic tracks like Chop Suey and Toxicity, have been largely inactive the past years save for a few performances here and there, including at Sick New World in Las Vegas last year.

Sick New World in Fort Worth will also see headlining performances from Deftones. Unlike SOAD, Deftones is an enduring atmospheric alternative metal band that have been musically prolific in the past few years, most recently releasing Private Music earlier this year.

Iconic metal outfit Slayer will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of their pioneering record, Reign in Blood at Sick New World in Fort Worth. The band will be sharing the top bill with Evanescence, Ministry, AFI, and The Prodigy.

Other established artists slated to perform at Sick New World include Underoath, The Melvins, Norma Jean, Power Trip, Poison The Well, She Wants Revenge, and Clutch.
