Around 300 people were evacuated from a hotel in downtown Austin after a dryer in the laundry room caught fire early Thursday morning, according to the hotel’s staff.
The Austin Fire Department announced at 12:24 a.m. that firefighters were extinguishing a blaze in the Cambria Hotel at 68 East Ave. The flames had been contained to the laundry room by the building’s fire sprinklers, but firefighters still had to ventilate smoke from the building.
The guests had to wait outside for around two hours while crews worked, hotel staff said.
The fire was fully extinguished by 12:51 a.m., according to AFD. Firefighters reset the hotel’s fire suppression systems.
No injuries were reported, according to the department.
