A wildfire is burning in northeast Houston and residents nearby should be ready to evacuate if conditions change.

According to a post from the Houston Fire Department Sunday night, the fire is burning near Greens Bayou and John Ralston Road. It’s estimated to be 175 acres in size and as of 7:45 p.m. was 30% contained.

Residents in Verde Forest and those east of Thorn Street and north of Caddo Road should be aware. HFD said people in those areas should be ready to evacuate if conditions change.

According to KHOU 11 meteorologist Pat Cavlin, winds in the area are light, coming out of the north at 5-10 mph. They’re expected to stay light into Monday.

The Houston Fire Department will be on scene for several days, according to their post. They’re asking people to avoid the area. They’re also telling people to avoid using UTVs and off-road vehicles as they get in the way of their firefighting.

Here’s the area where the fire is burning.
