COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – No. 24 Texas A&M baseball secured the series sweep over Penn with a 7-1 win on Sunday afternoon at Blue Bell Park. Here is a game rundown:
Why did A&M win? The Aggies found a rhythm offensively after having cold bats in the first two games on Friday and Saturday. Defensively, A&M stayed consistent on the mound. Through the 29 innings played this weekend, the Aggies pitcher did not let up any walks.
Who stood out? Sunday’s starting pitcher, Aiden Sims, tallied a career-high 10 strikeouts while allowing only one run and three hits through seven innings.
Nico Partida led the way at the plate. Partida going 3-4 in his at bats, including a two-run home run to put the Aggies up 4-0 in the bottom of the third.
What’s next? A&M hosts Lamar in a midweek game on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 6:00 p.m.
