Houston police said they shot and killed a man who opened fire into a hotel room Sunday night.

Investigators said the shooting happened at a Comfort Inn and Suites off I-69 and the Sam Houston Tollway.

Police said they arrived at the hotel about three minutes after the initial call for help came in around 9 p.m.

Officers were getting ready to go into the hotel when they said a man was seen coming out the door holding a rifle. The man, who officers describe as being in his 60s, was given commands to drop the rifle, but he did not follow them.

Police said that’s when they shot the man, killing him.

Inside the hotel, law enforcement said they found a woman with a graze wound, but said she is expected to be OK.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

ABC13 is working to learn if the victim and suspect knew each other.
