AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police were investigating a deadly hit-and-run early Tuesday morning in South Austin.

APD said the crash happened in the 7200 block of South Congress Avenue near the Dittmar Road intersection.

According to APD, an older man was crossing the street when he was struck at about 2:08 a.m. The driver fled the scene and remained at large.

Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene about 10 minutes later and that officers interviewed witnesses in the area.
