For one night on September 29, 2026, San Antonio will reclaim its title as the “Heavy Metal Capital of the World.” Rock legends Iron Maiden are including Alamo City as one of only 9 U.S. stops of its Run For Your Lives World Tour with fellow heavy hitters Anthrax and Megadeth.
The metal icons last toured through San Antonio in 2024, but this time they’ll be at a bigger arena, the Alamodome. The band is promising a new state-of-the-art production and a set list that thunders through their first chart-topping nine albums.
“We are greatly looking forward to bringing this Run For Your Lives World Tour to North America and hope the fans enjoy seeing the show and hearing the set list as much as we do playing it,” says bassist and founding member Steve Harris, via a release. “It’s an added bonus to have a few of our good friends on the tour with us.”
“This whole tour has been such great fun,” added founding vocalist Bruce Dickinson. “I really enjoy belting out all these great old songs, and the whole band are loving playing them too! We’ve got all the big ones from that early period, including “Hallowed,” “Run To The Hills,” “Trooper,” “Number Of The Beast,” “Killers,” “Powerslave,” “2 Minutes”…and some of them we haven’t played in the U.S. for over 20 years!”
Formed in Leyton, East London, in 1975, Iron Maiden is one of heavy metal’s most influential artists. The Number of the Beast, their third studio album, sold almost 20 million copies worldwide, inspiring future artists and Satanic panic for its provocative cover art featuring longtime mascot “Eddie” and a bright-red devil.
With its founding members approaching their 70s, Iron Maiden is a little less controversial, but that doesn’t mean the Alamodome show won’t bust a few eardrums. And it’s playing to some of its largest crowds ever, including massive Kentucky music festival Louder Than Life.
“We particularly look forward to playing the huge shows in Montréal and the Alamodome in San Antonio, two of the biggest shows we have ever played in North America,” said manager Rod Smallwood in a statement.
Presales for the Iron Maiden Fan Club begin on Tuesday, October 28, although neither the release nor the website specified the time. The general sale for San Antonio begins at 3 pm on Friday, October 31. More tour information can be found at ironmaiden.com.
