Scrub a Pup Owners with two dogs

By Office of Communications

If you’re mutts about your dog, and want to give them a special spa day, look no further than Scrub a Pup in North Arlington.

Started in 2021 by Arlington natives, co-owners and siblings, Helen Rodriguez and Samuel Nevarez, the business offers a variety of professional grooming services including haircuts, nail trimming and teeth brushing. What makes Scrub a Pup, located at 2321 N. Davis Drive unique, is they brought in a DIY dog washing concept where pet owners can wash their dogs themselves in one of the eight tub stations.

“We provide everything you would need for a bath – shampoo, towels, scrubbers and a professional velocity dryer to fully dry the dog,” said Rodriguez.

The DIY concept is for pet owners who may not have space or may not want to bathe their dogs at home. They also offer different grooming packages if you want to treat your pup to a spa day, offering a variety of shampoos based on the dog’s coat and conditions such as shedding, needing to brighten a white coat, moisturize a dry coat or clean a really dirty coat. After their pampering, Scrub a Pup has an adorable photo booth where owners can snap some sweet pictures.

“We’ve seen everything from chihuahuas to Great Danes,” Rodriguez said. “We are known for doodles and poodle grooming. It is a popular place for all those teddy bear faces.”

Rodriguez said one of the things that has been most surprising about running a business is how rewarding it has been to connect with customers and their furry, four-legged family members. This is the Arlington family’s first store, but their goal is to open more locations in the future.

“This is our hometown. This is where we were raised,” Rodriguez said.
